CUNA Technology Council Summit - Post 2
I've experienced a couple of days now at the CUNA Technology Council Summit in Las Vegas. I attended the pre-conference workshop on creating an incident response plan. It was good stuff and the speaker did a good job of presenting the material as well as providing some good exercises at the end that allowed us to practice some of our new found knowledge. I think we have a fairly good IRP already but I definitely learned some things to make it better.
I enjoyed the keynote address this morning, mostly because it was given by an old acquaintance of mine that I used to work with back in '89. Randy Harrington from Extreme Arts and Sciences was the speaker and, interesting enough, besides working with him in '89, he also used to have my job at one time. It looked like everyone really enjoyed his presentation.
The two other really interesting sessions were the ones on mobile banking and remote deposit. I was glad to see Mshif presenting on mobile banking because, as regular readers of this blog would know, I have been interested in Mshift for a while now. It was great to learn more about it and it reinforced my belief that this is something we need to be doing soon. I also got a lot out of the remote deposit session and I think it's a great concept and cool stuff. It has the potential of being just another one of those services that can help to differentiate our credit union from the others in our market. But, with so much on our plate, I see it taking a back seat for now. Too bad...I wish we could do everything.
Kickin' back in my hotel now enjoying a nightcap. More later...
